BMX

BMX is just another trendy extreme style of riding bicycles invented in the USA. There's no exact date when first bicycle motocross was made. At first they were simply small bikes that children used for riding and doing various tricks to imitate real motocross bikers. Later on bicycle manufacturers noticed the new trend and began making bikes with stronger frames, better brakes and especially designed geometry for grown-ups, although the size of the bikes remained the same – it had to be small so that riders could flip and turn and rotate them while riding them. With time the new discipline developed into a separate industry with its own peculiarities and laws. The best BMX bikes are still made in the USA by such manufacturers as GT, Mongoose, Haro and some others. The distinctive characteristic of such bikes are small wheels of 20 inches, strong little frame and sometimes no brakes, although it is an option that depends on personal preferences of a rider. Today BMX is popular as never before. BMX riders can be met in almost every big city in all European countries, as well as in Asia and Africa.
Another thing that makes BMX different from usual biking disciplines like cycle racing on usual bicycles is its commitment to teenage subcultures which makes it especially attractive for young cyclists that want to look cool, fashionable and sporty at the same time. However, such subcultures have been changing lately. At first bicycle motocross was popular among hip-hopers, now you can call it an emo rather than a hip-hop sport.
